Pressing Needs for 2022

LONGHOUSE MATTRESSES
In 2020/21 interior improvements were made to the Longhouse. This historic building was divided into two units (Lakewood and Fircrest) and reconfigured to be more comfortable for youth and family groups. The thirty-six unique built-in bunk beds could use some better, more comfortable mattresses suited for bodies of all ages. Estimate: $7,000

CAMPERSHIPS
In 2022, we hope to again offer financial assistance to overnight camper families backed up by the campership fund. Although we strive to keep our summer sessions affordable, it is important to ensure that deserving kids can come to camp

WOOD CHIPPER
Our woodlands yield plenty of windfall. We use this “free wood” for family campfires, walking stick projects, and poles for shelter building classes. However, most of it could be chipped up and used on trails, in the garden, or on the farm. A modern wood chipper is needed to keep up with the windfall and help manage our forest lands. Estimate: $3,000

HIGH ROPES COURSE REPAIR
Our course is still uses natural trees (Douglas Firs) which thankfully are healthy and strong. In 2020, regulations changed which caused some of the hardware (high up in the trees) to expire and thus needs replacing. At the same time, we hope to take advantage of new technology to improve the course. These changes will make the challenge course more accessible and easier to run with our small staff team. Estimate: $20,000

New upgrades would make the course accessible for some of our smallest campers.
