Another Uplifting #SoundViewSunday
/One of the absolute BEST parts of my job is visiting churches within (or even outside) our Olympia Presbytery for worship. I can only do this because of a talented staff “holding down the fort” at Sound View Sundays while groups are present.
Yesterday, December 2, it was a joy to worship at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Chehalis. Their amazing pastor (who is also the incoming Moderator for Presbytery) gave me ample time to speak about the news, hope and dreams for Camp Sound View. Thank you for inviting me!
I love old, classic church buildings, and we have quite a few of these in our Presbytery. While I was being welcomed by pretty much everybody in this friendly, outgoing church, I wandered a bit in the sanctuary and snapped pictures. The musician in me stood in awe by the pipe organ whilst the by love of open rafters and stained glass aimed my gaze other places.
Thanks for the laid-back worship where a three-year old “assistant” not only was welcome to wander towards, and sit by by the preacher, but became part of the message.
Thank you for the “passing of the peace” - it reminded me of morning gathering at camp.
Thanks for the creative and inspiring lighting of the first Advent candle by a family - with each member sharing something important about this season of hope.
Thank you for the welcome bag. I am enjoying some yummy banana bread as I type.
Thank you for Phyliss- who sat next to me and told me stories of her late husband and his love for her and the church.
Thank you for the choir. They were wonderful.
Thank you for many of the congregation joining in (and smiling) when I sang the first verse of “Pass it On” to open my talk.
I am very blessed to be your camp director and grateful for the support and love that each of our churches have for this outdoor ministry.
