You are invited to spend a week (or two, or three) as a roving leader (Rover) for Camp Sound View. This is a volunteer staff position for teens entering the 11th or 12th grade - so we can’t pay you**- but then again, you won’t have to pay to come.
We depend on an enthusiastic, caring, talented and trained staff to run a safe, fun camp program where the college-age cabin leaders are bound to the campers, and the high-school age roving leaders assist with the activities. We hope to have twelve rovers per session.
As a rover:
...You will arrive on Sunday at 4:00 along with the campers of that session. Maybe come the same week as your sibling?
...For Sunday afternoon, evening, and into the night, you are sequestered away at our “staff village” where you will be properly trained. You will spend the first night in a staff bunkhouse.
...On Monday morning, you will receive your staff shirt, move into a tent-cabin or a lodge with your assigned cabin group. One of your jobs as a rover will be acting as the second leader for that group of campers
...Your “rover day” would look somewhat like this….
......Helping campers get up, get dressed, and ready for breakfast
......Being part of a rover team that re-stocks the bathrooms, feeds the mini-farm animals, waters the gardens, cleans the dining hall, or tackles a maintenance project.
......Setting up program areas for activities.
......Helping teach and supervise activities such as challenge course, archery, paintball, waterfront, ukuleles/steel drums, survival, ultimate frisbee, drama, arts and crafts
......Participating in skits, songs and radio drama
......Assisting with the all-camp game and evening program
......Lighting and extinguishing the campfire

**Rovers who come to camp with their Life Guard certification will be paid a stipend.
