For first time campers, Mini Camp is a wonderful introduction to Sound View, complete with camp activities, campfires, and games geared just for them.
We love our youngest campers! With a smaller camper to well trained-staffer ratio, we can focus on each camper more, and make sure that everyone knows they are safe and cared for throughout the whole session!
Mini Campers have a dedicated staff but are also paired with our 15-yr-old LITs who are anxious to try out their new leadership skills.
In a nutshell: Mini camp is a nature-based experience which introduces younger kids to overnight Christian camping.
Arrival/Departure: Camp begins 4:00 pm Sunday, and ends 10:00 am Wednesday.
Accommodations: Mini campers usually stay in the Longhouse, a historic building with cozy built-in bunk beds, a small kitchen, and bathrooms/showers within. A partition separates the boys from the girls. Besides their counselors, “minis” also benefit from the 15-yr-old Leaders in Training (LITs) who help plan their daily program and stay with them in the Longhouse.
Activities: We try to pack as much activity as possible into the mini camp day, giving the campers opportunities to do “camp stuff” either as a group, or with the older campers. We modify some activities especially for them.
